The "Lines of Life" painting exhibition opened at the Grand Harilton Hotel on Republic Day, October 29th.
The exhibition, which opened at the Grand Harilton Hotel, featured 32 works by painter Assoc. Prof. Dr. Reyhan Uludağ, Head of the Department of Arts and Cultural Management at Istanbul Kültür University.
Reyhan Uludağ told an Anadolu Agency (AA) reporter that she became interested in painting at a young age because her older brothers were studying art and design, and that she pursued this interest professionally during her high school years.
Uludağ, noting that the exhibition was brought to life following an offer from the Grand Harilton Hotel, said, "It was a long process. The hotel wanted to create a gallery environment, and they wanted to start with an artist with both professional and academic skills. We specifically timed this to coincide with Republic Day."
The artist, noting that the exhibition includes 32 works, said, "The ones currently in the exhibition are works I've created in the last year or so, as many of them have been sold to collectors. Of course, the origins of these paintings go back a long way. The style and technique go back many years."
"Line is very prominent in my paintings"
Uludağ pointed out that the theme of the exhibition is "Tell Me About Your Line," saying, "Because line is very prominent in my paintings. Here, we're essentially asking the audience, 'What is your line?' The lines in the paintings sometimes depict the silhouette of Istanbul, sometimes a horse, sometimes a ballerina, and sometimes abstract images. Therefore, we want the audience to discover their own line after viewing the exhibition." He shared his opinion.
Explaining that his works feature figures he calls "humanoids" and that they wander throughout the paintings, Uludağ said, "I also use those humanoids as my logo; they've become my signature; they're indispensable to me."
Emphasizing that it's a source of pride and excitement for his works to be presented to art lovers, Uludağ said, "This is my 21st solo exhibition; three of them were abroad. But each one is exciting and offers different flavors. The meeting of the space and the paintings creates a different experience each time. Having my paintings in this hotel makes me especially happy. Because when the paintings and the space meet, the energy changes."
Following the opening, painter Reyhan Uludağ presented one of her works to Serdar Özyurt, Chairman of the Board of Özyurt Holding.
Afterward, guests at the event toured and examined the exhibition. The exhibition will be on display at the Grand Harilton Hotel Art Gallery until November 12th.
