Gaziantep-based painter Mizyal Karabiber Nacaroğlu and her grandson Ferit Özdeş will open an exhibition themed "We Together 2" at the Sanko Art Gallery.
Mizyal Karabiber Nacaroğlu held her first painting exhibition during her high school years. She studied for two years at the Reigate School of Art and Design Painting Academy in England. After returning to Turkey, she graduated from the METU Food Engineering Department. In 1995, she furthered her painting education for one year at the Open College of Arts in England.
The artist, who lives in Gaziantep, teaches painting to primary and secondary school children at the Mizyal Art House. A member of the Art Center Association, the artist has implemented various projects to promote the development of art in the city. A member of FAM (Union of Women Artists from Mediterranean Countries) and USB (Union of International Artists), Mizyal Karabiber Nacaroğlu shares her inner joy with others by capturing movements, events, and colors in nature with her unique interpretations on canvas. She also aims to maintain constant communication with other artists to ensure that national and international art events are held in her city.
The artist, who prioritizes following all competitions and workshops related to children's paintings worldwide, has held 21 solo exhibitions in Gaziantep, Istanbul, England, Ankara, Germany, the Netherlands, Slovenia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, and Romania. She has also participated in 22 group exhibitions in England, Greece, Izmir, Ankara, Japan, and Serbia, and in 17 collaborations, including 16 in Slovenia and one in Serbia.
Ferit Özdeş was born in Istanbul on June 29, 2014. He held his first solo exhibition at the age of five, with his grandmother, Mizyal Karabiber Nacaroğlu, at the Gaziantep Metropolitan Municipality Onat Kutlar Hall. Özdeş, a 6th-grade student at SANKO Schools and continuing his art studies at his grandmother's Mizyal Art Center, typically paints with watercolors, linoleum prints, and mixed media. Ferit Özdeş says he draws the places he visits and sees with his grandmother, and that painting is a joy for them when they spend time together.
The art exhibition, themed "We Together 2," will open at the SANKO Art Gallery on Friday, September 19, 2025, at 5:30 PM.
