The Ankara leg of the Culture Road festivals organized by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism across Turkey has begun. As part of the Ankara Culture Road Festival, which will take place from September 20–28, the Museum of Anatolian Civilizations is hosting a magnificent exhibition: "Heritage Gordion."
The exhibition, which will be open to visitors from September 20–October 19, 2025, brings together the millennia-old history and mythological heritage of the Phrygian capital, Gordion, with contemporary art. Curated by Siret Uyanık, the project is led by Prof. Dr. Hasan Pekmezci, Prof. Dr. Aydın Ayan, and Prof. Dr. Alaybey Karoğlu on the advisory board.
The exhibition brings together works by 33 artists from diverse disciplines, including painting, sculpture, ceramics, and video art. 28 paintings, 2 sculptures, 2 ceramics, and 1 video art piece reinterpret the archaeological memory of the Phrygian civilization through legends, rituals, and symbols. Artists featured in the exhibition include: Kadir Akyol, Aydın Ayan, Önder Aydın, Habip Aydoğdu, Bünyamin Balamir, Emre Bekişoğlu, Semih Büyükkol, Ramazan Can, Rıdvan Coşkun, İhsan Çakıcı, Zehra Çobanlı, Mehmet Ali Doğan, İclal Alev Değim Flannagan, Yalçın Gökçebağ, Evren Karayel Gökkaya, Mahir Güven, Devabil Kara, Fevzi Karakoç, Alaybey Karoğlu, Gülveli Kaya, F. Deniz Korkmaz, Levent Oyluçtarhan, Bünyamin Özgültekin, Hasan Pekmezci, Şükran Pekmezci, Teymur Rzayev, Kadir Şişginoğlu, Mutluhan Taş, Gülnaz Yılmaz Tezcan, Akdoğan Topaçlıoğlu, Kudret Türküm, Meliha Yılmaz, and Gülay Yüksel. Prepared with the support of the Ankara Governorate, the Ankara Provincial Directorate of Culture and Tourism, and the Gordion Excavation Directorate, "Heritage Gordion" brings layers of the past to the present through art while also reminding us of the universal value of cultural heritage.
