Curated by Dr. Ayşe Tuncay, the group exhibition "Traces from the Academy" presented the works of 15 academic artists in painting, printmaking, and illustration to art lovers in France.
On August 12, 2025, the Espace Frichet Art Gallery hosted a remarkable art event in Luxeuil-les-Bains, a city in the Haute-Saône department of the Franche-Comté region of France.
The opening ceremony of the exhibition was attended by Martine Bavard, Deputy Mayor of Luxeuil-les-Bains and former Member of Parliament responsible for Culture; Ersin Arslan, Director of Culture at the Municipality of Audincourt; and French artists and art lovers.
All the works are by Turkish artists.
Antalya artists Gizem Yavuz, Zübeyde Yavuz, and Pınar Sağırkaya Arklan were invited to the exhibition, while Aysel Güney Türkeç, Burcu Özyonar Çırak, Doğan Çelebi, Esra Avcı Kurt, Gülay Karakuş, Kevser Soydan, Müsebbih Fındık Tütün, Nuri Sezer, Ümit Özkanlı, Pınar Özturan, Sedat Özer, and Tatiana Kaymaz also participated. The works, shaped by contemporary, powerful, and conceptual narratives, were met with great interest from the audience.
Efal Özer, who contributed to the exhibition's promotional process with translation support, enabled the works to be more effectively presented to French art lovers. The exhibition, which also received positive reviews in the French press, was a significant step in strengthening the presence of academic artists from Turkey in the international art scene.
This bridge, built through the universal language of art, was also acclaimed as a powerful example of intercultural dialogue.
