A new exhibition of paintings, graphics and sculptures by Mehmet Güler, one of our artists living in Germany, is opening in Korbach.
The exhibition, which will open on Friday, April 25th in Korbach, near Kassel, where the artist lives and works, will continue until June 15th. The exhibition, organized by the ‘Hanseatic City Korbach Art Association’ in the city’s cultural center (Bürgerhaus), is being held under a title that can be translated into Turkish as ‘Intoxicated by Colors’ or ‘In the Excitement of Colors’ (Im Rausch der Farben). The announcement about the exhibition also points out that the artist ‘makes hot and cold, sun and water, work and free time, and eastern and western people talk’ with his unique color culture, and emphasizes that he has an artistic approach that emphasizes the dynamism of colors and cultural interactions in his works.
WHO IS MEHMET GÜLER?
Born in Malatya in 1944 (in the village of Sögüt in Doğanşehir), Güler graduated from the Painting Department of Ankara Gazi Education Institute in 1965. After working as a lecturer for a while, he came to Germany. Güler, who also graduated from the Kassel Fine Arts Academy in 1976 and has been living here as a freelance artist since 1977, His paintings, graphics and sculptures have been exhibited in museums, private and institutional collections in many countries from Turkey to England since the 1970s. Güler, who won numerous international awards throughout his artistic career, was declared the ‘Art Ambassador of Kassel’ in 2014 for his contributions to the city he lives in.
The opening ceremony of the exhibition, which will be open to visitors in Korbach between 16:00-18:00 during the week except Mondays and between 15:00-17:00 on Saturdays and Sundays, will be held on Friday, April 25 at 18:00. Address: Bürgerhaus Korbach, Kirchstr. 7 / 34497 Korbach.
