Karşıyaka Municipality brings art to the doorstep of citizens with the "Gallery Alt" it created in its main service building. The new exhibition area, which will host photography, ceramics and plastic arts, will bring a new breath to the city's culture and art life.

Karşıyaka Municipality, which stands out with its citizen-oriented works, has taken a new step to spread culture and art to the city. The new exhibition area called "Gallery Alt", which opened on the ground floor of the main service building, will open its doors to artists from different disciplines and bring Karşıyaka residents together with art. Mayor Yıldız Ünsal said, "We are expecting all art lovers to this gallery we have opened in the heart of our municipality."

The first guests of Gallery Alt were İzmir Photography Art Association (İFOD) and Çatı Bostanlı Tüzüm Kızılcan Ceramic Workshop. While the theme of “light” was discussed in İFOD’s 31st Traditional Photography Exhibition this year, the works donated by ceramic workshop artists also added a different aesthetic to the gallery.

In the future, it is planned to form an independent selection committee so that Galeri Alt can host more qualified and thematic exhibitions. The committee, which will consist of painters, sculptors, photographers and ceramic artists, will evaluate the applicant artists and offer them the opportunity to exhibit in the gallery.

MAYOR ÜNSAL: “WE SUPPORT CULTURAL PRODUCTION”
Karşıyaka Mayor Yıldız Ünsal said, “Supporting cultural production and ensuring the spread of art is one of our priorities. While offering a new area to artists with this gallery, we also aim to bring our citizens together with art in daily life. We will continue to work for a stronger, more vibrant Karşıyaka with art.”
