Who is Tülin Gizgen Atabay? (1973 – Istanbul)

Tülin Gizgen Atabay is an artist who focuses on human existence and especially women’s imagination in her art. Born in Istanbul in 1973, Atabay began her art education at the Painting Department of Rüstü Uzel Girls’ Vocational High School. Then, she studied at the Department of Wall Decoration Arts at Trakya University and worked in the field of decorative arts. After graduating from the Department of Painting Teaching at Marmara University Atatürk Faculty of Education, she continued to develop her art practice through teaching and workshop work.
Her artistic approach is based on creating a unique language of expression with paint, line and aesthetic concerns. Atabay addresses the individual’s inner journey, self-discovery process and existential questioning in her works. Thanks to the training she received in the fields of art therapy, theater and cosmic energy, she has gained a deep philosophical background in her works.
The artist, who has held solo exhibitions in Istanbul, Ankara and Bodrum, has participated in many art fairs and group exhibitions with her works in different disciplines. He produces two and three-dimensional works using various materials such as canvas, paper, paint, pencil and clay. Sometimes he paints objects and adds his own artistic touch to them, and sometimes he creates powerful narratives by blending traditional and contemporary techniques.

Atabay’s understanding of art is based on the journeys that people make with themselves and their awareness of their surroundings. He transforms everything by learning, feeling, noticing and listening and reflects it in his art. His works invite the viewer to an inner journey of discovery and encourage people to question their place in the universe.

The artist continues his work in his studio in Istanbul and continues to discover new forms of expression with the transformative power of art.
