Şerivan Tutuş

Who is Şerivan Tutuş? (1993-Diyarbakır)

Şerivan Tutuş was born in 1993 in Diyarbakır, Turkey. She completed her high school education in the Cinema andTelevision Department of Türk Telekom Anatolian High School. In 2015, she graduated from Akdeniz University, Faculty of Communication, Department of Radio, Television, and Cinema.

Driven by her deep interest in art history, she began studying art history at various cultural centers in 2016. She further enriched her artistic and technical knowledge through private lessons from prominent educators such as Mustafa Doğan. In 2022, she attended a course in Art Philosophy at the Aziz Nesin Art Village in Şirince, Izmir, adding philosophical depth to her work.Her interdisciplinary approach merges visual arts with music.

Recently, she has been taking courses on the history of musical notation, exploring ways to translate music into visual form. Her artistic practice focuses on intuitive painting, memory, migration, identity, and collective consciousness. Şerivan Tutuş exhibits her works both in Turkey and internationally, performs live at concerts, and conducts intuitive painting workshops.

Artistic Statement;
For me, art is the echo of the unseen—an intuitive invocation of what has been erased or suppressed within the collective memory. Each canvas is not merely a surface, but a passage between past and present—a narrative plane bearing the traces of displacement, disappearance, and rebirth.

My work forms a bridge between personal sorrow and collective trauma. The starkness of black and white emerges where words fall silent; red becomes more than a color—it is the embodiment of a long-muted cry. My figures walk, wait, or simply watch, because in a time suspended, even stillness becomes a form of resistance.

Stories rooted in the memory of an ancient geography intersect with the solitude of modern existence. As someone who grew up closely connected to nature, I carry the memory of soil and sound onto the canvas, seeking to create not only visual but also auditory and intuitive layers. In this realm, music and painting converge—I paint melodies and search for the resonance of silence.

I see my art not as a fixed result, but as a process—a living space that transforms and is transformed. My aim is not merely to show, but to remember together, to heal together. The relationship I build with the viewer is a ground for dialogue, where meaning exists not as singular, but as plural and open.

Because I believe that art, without uttering a single word, can awaken what has long been silenced in the deepest parts of the human soul.
