Her interest in visual arts began in primary school and deepened during high school, where she connected with painting. In 2020, she graduated from Mustafa Kemal Vocational and Technical Anatolian High School and continued her education at Gazi University, Faculty of Education, Department of Art Education. She built her artistic understanding on the reflections of individual expressions on society, adopting an expressionist approach. She created her own unique language by blending ethnic and local images with a modern perspective. Her works focus on themes such as loneliness, emptiness, and cultural heritage.During her university years, she participated in many exhibitions and events. In 2025, she took part in the group exhibition “Stage” organized at Gazi University and also exhibited her works at the university’s collective student exhibition in the same year. She also participated in various local painting competitions.Aiming to turn her art into a language where people can find fragments of themselves, Melek enriches her works by also making use of digital tools. She seeks new ways for people to explore their cultural heritage and express themselves.Art Persfective; For Melek Coşkun, art is a form of expression through which the individual externalizes their inner world in a plastic and aesthetic sense, while also finding its place in a social context. According to her, individual expressions gain meaning in society as artists reflect them in their works, blending inner experiences with cultural heritage.By adopting an expressionist approach in her art, Melek makes personal emotions, thoughts, and inner conflicts visible through artistic means. At the same time, she emphasizes the importance of these emotions gaining meaning in a social framework. The ethnic and local images she incorporates into her works are visual reflections of society’s cultural fabric. When made visible through art, these images offer viewers the opportunity to deeply reflect on the cultural context to which they belong.According to Melek Coşkun, art has the power to transform the viewer both individually and socially. The images in her works hold up a mirror to the viewers’ search for identity. People can find pieces of their own life experiences, cultural roots, or social contexts in her paintings. This sense of familiarity establishes a connection with the viewer and enables art to create a deeper social interaction. In conclusion, Melek Coşkun’s art serves both as a form of personal expression and as a tool for social interaction. The images in her works not only reflect her inner world but also aim to make social memory and cultural heritage visible.
