Art Perspective;

Nilgün Şener is a painter who holds a significant place in Contemporary Turkish Art and produces works that stand out as an artist. Her paintings often possess an emotional and profound narrative. Her art explores human relationships, inner worlds, and social issues. The color palette, compositional order, and the symbols and metaphors she uses in her paintings provoke thought and inquiry. Nilgün Şener is known for her works that reflect the rapid pace of cities, changing times, and movement. Her work often reflects the dynamism of modern life and the urban atmosphere, and she explores themes such as speed, movement, time, the city, and daylight. Şener uses vibrant color and form in her paintings to capture the tempo, chaos, and energy of modern life. Nilgün Şener's paintings of urban speed not only offer an aesthetic experience; they also encourage the viewer to think, question modern life, and question their own experiences. Generally focusing on contemporary themes throughout her artistic career, Şener aims to convey the chaos of the city, its vibrant and dynamic aspects, and human relationships to the viewer through intense lines, colors, and brushstrokes. Urban atmospheres, nightscapes, streetlights, and vague figures in motion are frequent elements in her work. The artist creates a visual feast by combining cityscapes and daily life with the effects of time-lapse video and/or the moment-capturing effect of photography. Blending the desire to connect abstract time with concrete spaces with original touches, and employing experimental techniques such as image manipulation and distortion of form, is more than just a tool for the artist, it is a form of artistic expression. She embraces an artistic language that brings the flow of life together within a photographic logic.
The artist questions urban and human psychology through the image of speed. In her conceptual expression, she strives to evoke the invisibility of urban dwellers, the emptiness lost within them, the forgotten yet evocative feeling of loneliness, the desire to detach from social life, the difficulty of establishing psychological connections, and the "atmosphere of that moment" immersed in them through an architectural perspective. Her aim is to highlight the traces of emotions caused by rapid, uncontrolled, distorted, and irreparable urbanization.
The artist's works are generally abstract and expressive, allowing the viewer to relate their own experiences and emotions to the work. In this context, Nilgün Şener stands out as an artist who successfully reflects the dynamics of contemporary art.
Nilgün Şener is also active in art education and serves as an inspiration to young artists. While developing her own style, she emphasizes the power of art to reflect both social and individual emotions. Throughout her artistic career, she has participated in numerous exhibitions and events, earning a significant place in the art world through her work.
