Nevin Edhem Hamdi (July 10, 1910–June 17, 1931), as the granddaughter of Osman Hamdi Bey, was a figurative painter who lived and produced works in the early Republican period of Turkish painting. Nevin Edhem Hamdi was born on July 10, 1910. Her father was Edhem Eldem; her grandfather was Osman Hamdi Bey (1842-1910), one of the founders of modern painting, museology, and archaeology in Turkey. The works and artistic practice of Osman Hamdi Bey have had a transformative impact on Turkish art history, and Nevin Edhem Hamdi is also part of this artistic tradition.
Unfortunately, Nevin Edhem Hamdi passed away at a very young age, on June 17, 1931, at the age of 21, due to tuberculosis; therefore, her artistic production was cut short.
