Who is Gözde Atlas (1982 – Adana)

Contemporary Artist, activist, writer, art educator
Born in Adana in 1982, she was entitled to enter the Painting and Crafts Education department of Gazi Faculty of Education at the age of 17, and graduated by entering the high honor list. In 2006, she successfully completed her European Union specialization training at Ankara University European Communities Research and Application Center (ATAUM). In order to specialize in her field, she completed her master’s degree with thesis in Applied Arts Graphics Education at Gazi Faculty of Education in 2008. In her works, she aimed to create a simple, understandable but original. The artist, who tries to emphasize the importance of the impressions of the path and process leading to the goal rather than the goal, painted her projections on the arid, deserted empty spaces, green fields, single trees grown in harsh conditions, lonely strong people and characters that she saw during her long journeys in Anatolia. He frequently expressed in the trainings he gave in the programs he attended that expressing more with less rather than more is beneficial for creative thinking. The artist, who prefers to use gray as a value, also uses red and blue as his signature in his “red flags borders” series. While he depicts figures on a winter journey and tree-human encounters in his “Winterreise” series, he depicts the themes of the steppes, the transition to autumn and spring, and the intersection of contemporary people with Anatolian lands in his “sealed time” series.
