Art Perspective;

Memory is a mental process. Events learned or experienced in societies are related to the past. Therefore, although the mind carries the past to the present, memory often remains hidden in the past. Reviving an event that has been experienced and transforming it into a character is like looking at a black and white photograph. In this way, memories always remain alive and come to light. It is necessary to remember the following words of Oscar Wilde: “Memory is the diary that we all carry with us.” Diaries are no different than photographs. They are the hidden treasures of the past, present and future. Özeskici’s works consist of instantaneous images of forgotten and secret characters of societies. The characters in his drawings are just like diaries. He takes the viewer on a short journey through the forgotten faces of memory. Their past is today; their present becomes the past in his paintings. Their tomorrow is uncertain until new characters emerge. The artist’s works create awareness of the forgotten faces of society. It is in our hands to keep them alive and bring them to light. Or not. What do you think?
