Who is Eda Nur Okay? (1998-Diyarbakır)

Eda Nur Okay was born in Diyarbakır in 1998. Her interest in painting emerged in her childhood years, when her mother noticed her talent for drawing. Although her aptitude for art was noticeable during her primary school years, this interest was not pursued professionally for many years.

While she began studying in a different field during a period of her education, Okay gradually realized the decisive role of art in her life and turned her attention to painting. This decision was not only a change of field for her, but also the beginning of her journey of discovering her creative identity.

Between 2017 and 2021, she completed her undergraduate education in the Painting Department of the Faculty of Fine Arts at Selçuk University. During her university education, the artist became acquainted with different art approaches, and was particularly influenced by the unique artistic understanding and interdisciplinary perspective of her workshop instructor, Orhan Cebrailoğlu, leading her to develop her own visual language. In this process, while deepening her technical skills, she focused on abstraction, rhythm, and form relationships, exploring her unique possibilities of expression.

Eda Nur Okay, who also values ​​the educational aspect of art, completed her pedagogical training at Gazi University in 2022.

The artist, who addresses the concepts of rhythm, texture, movement, and perception within the language of abstract painting in her works, continues her production with acrylic, mixed media, and layered surface applications. Okay, who continues to present her works to audiences on national and international platforms, continues her artistic work in her own studio in Ankara.

Eda Nur Okay’s artistic practice explores the multi-layered structure of existence, transformation, and perception through geometric abstraction. In her works, which develop through the relationships of color, form, and rhythm, the interaction between seemingly opposing concepts such as existence and non-existence, order and disorder, consciousness and unconsciousness becomes visible.
