Who is Cuma Ocaklı (1947-2016)
He was born in Siverek in 1947. He completed his primary education in his birthplace, Siverek. After his primary education, as a result of the exam he took in 1961, he was entitled to attend the six-year Ergani Dicle Primary Teacher School as a boarding student. He became a student of art teachers Tevfik Karakaya and Necati Özbay.
While moving from the third grade of the teacher training school to the fourth grade by taking advantage of the talent orientation practice, which is one of the best practices of teacher training schools; In parallel with his high arithmetic average of course grades, his painting talent was discovered by his teachers and he entered the Istanbul Ortaköy Primary Teacher School painting seminar in 1965 with the talent exam. He became a student of art educators Selahattin Hüsnü Taran and Hamdi Dicle.
He graduated from the Istanbul Primary Teacher School Painting Seminar in 1968. He graduated from the Painting Department of Istanbul Atatürk Education Institute in 1971. He completed his undergraduate studies at Marmara University Faculty of Fine Arts in 1985.
In 1987, she received Proficiency in Art equivalent to “PhD” from Dokuz Eylül University Social Sciences Institute. He became an associate professor at the same institution in 1989 and a professor in 1996.
In 2002, he retired from the Department of Painting at Dokuz Eylül University, Faculty of Fine Arts. He opened 54 exhibitions in his career, 9 of which were abroad. Many books about the artist and exhibition catalogs containing his works have been published.

The artist, whose works are in many museums and private collections, died at the age of 69 on October 2, 2016, at Dokuz Eylül University Hospital, where he had been treated since September 30, 2016, due to lung disease. His funeral; His funeral was held at Hoca Ali Mosque on 04 October 2016 and he was buried in Urla İskele Cemetery.
