Who is Batuhan Yaşar Cebli? (1982-Istanbul)

Born in Istanbul in 1982, he graduated from the Painting Department of Pera Fine Arts High School, Türkiye’s first private fine arts high school, in 2002. After interrupting his undergraduate studies at Mimar Sinan Fine Arts University’s Painting Department, he completed his undergraduate degree in Interior Design of Arts at NABA Art School in Italy in 2004 and his Master’s degree in Interior and Living Design at Domus Academy Milano in 2006.

In 2012, he graduated from the Architectural Restoration Program at Istanbul Topkapı University (formerly Istanbul Ayvansaray University) Department of Architecture and Urban Planning. He also completed his studies at Anadolu University’s Department of Cultural Heritage and Tourism.

In addition to his painting work, he also undertakes interior architecture and architectural restoration projects. He has taught at several universities, including the Architectural Restoration Department of Faruk Saraç Design Vocational School.

Batuhan Yaşar Cebli’s artistic approach is based on a search for abstract, geometric forms of effect alongside simple and understandable expression. Reflecting the complex and metropolitan aspects of life in his works is a passion for him.

In his works, the artist addresses the inner world of modern man and the dynamics of city life with his unique geometric language.

1. The Reflection of Architecture and Geometry in Art
• Geometric Forms: Cebli, who studied interior architecture and architectural restoration, directly transfers these disciplines to his canvas. Triangles, sharp lines, and structural forms are prominent in his works.

• The Conflict Between Order and Excess: In exhibitions such as “Geo-Metry” and “Search for Self,” he explores the conflict between regular geometric shapes and overlapping complex lines. According to the artist, these corners and geometric boundaries represent the refuges of modern man.

2. Metropolitan Life and Modern Chaos

• Material Selection: In his works on canvas, he mostly prefers to use acrylic paint because of its quick drying time and the ability to create clear layers.
