About His Life:
Alp Bartu was born in Manisa in 1947. Due to his father’s civil service job, he completed his primary education in Antakya. At the age of 11, he graduated from the Düziçi Teacher Training School, formerly the Adana Düziçi Village Institute. His childhood and youth spent in different geographical locations formed an important foundation that nourished the social observation skills and figurative expression that the artist would develop later. Bartu completed his art education at the Painting Department of the Faculty of Education at Marmara University, graduating in the 1976-1977 academic year. The drawing knowledge, compositional understanding, and figure studies he acquired during his academic process manifested themselves as a lasting technical solidity in his production. After graduation, he worked for many years as a painting teacher in various secondary schools and educational institutions. His identity as an educator meant that his art was not limited only to individual production; It is also an important aspect that expands with the responsibility of transferring knowledge and experience.
The artist, who retired from the Maçka Technical Plastic Arts Department in 1993, has continued his work more intensively since then. Today, he continues his life and art production in Istanbul.
Throughout his career, the artist has participated in many national and international group exhibitions; he has held nearly 98 solo exhibitions to date, including abroad. His works are included in private collections and bank collections in Turkey and abroad. The artist continues his art life in his own studio in Istanbul.
