Curated by Gizem Günaçtı, the exhibition reinterprets individual and collective existence, genetic memory, and the common bonds of humanity through an artistic language. Positioning the body as a permeable threshold between the individual and the collective in her works, Adviye Bal invites viewers to a questioning.
"What is the impact of biological transmission on our choices?"
Focusing on the relationship between genetic codes and collective memory, the artist layers figures stripped of their faces and distinct identities on the pictorial surface. The works, which open up a discussion on the impact of biological transmission on human behavior and choices, confront the viewer with the question, "If we share a common origin, what separates us from each other?"
The "Common Origin" painting exhibition at the İstiklal Art Gallery on İstiklal Street will continue to welcome visitors every day of the week until September 6, 2026.
