
Who was Abdullah Meriçadalı? (February 11, 1920, İzmir – November 23, 2007, Istanbul)
Abdullah Meriçadalı is one of the painters in the Republican era of Turkish art, particularly known for his nature and landscape paintings, and for his unique artistic approach developed outside of academic circles. Interpreting nature with an Impressionist sensibility, the artist worked in design and drawing for many years before completely dedicating himself to painting.
Abdullah Meriçadalı was born on February 11, 1920, in İzmir and passed away on November 23, 2007, in Istanbul.
His interest in painting began during his high school years. While attending İzmir Atatürk Boys’ High School, he was encouraged by his teachers:

Winning an award at an exhibition organized by the People’s House during his student years influenced his decision to pursue art.
Art Education and Professional Life:
After his military service, the artist settled in Istanbul and in 1942, he attended night courses as a guest student at the Academy of Fine Arts. Here, specifically:
• He gained knowledge of ceramics by working with İsmail Hakkı Oygar, and then completely turned to painting.
